Executive Summary
The Second Step (TSS) provides comprehensive services for those experiencing domestic violence (DV). Our goal is to empower survivors to heal from trauma and ensure access to the resources and support needed to be safe, independent, and well. Last year, we served over 400 adults, helping break the cycle of abuse for over 600 children. While DV impacts all communities, 90% of our clients are women, 72% are considered low income, and 58% are people of color. Several staff and board members are DV survivors, and a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds are represented. **Transitional Living Program:** TSS operates a transitional living program to house families rendered homeless because of DV. We help survivors find and maintain permanent housing and provide supportive services to ensure they have the tools to succeed independently, including financial wellness, life skills, educational and support groups, and access to resources. We administer short-term rental assistance funds to help families quickly exit homelessness and return to permanent housing. **Steps to Justice legal services**: Staff attorneys provide free, trauma-informed legal advocacy and representation for restraining orders, custody/child support, divorce, immigration, and housing. They also educate survivors and civilian advocates on legal rights and court processes. **Prevention, Intervention, & Education**: Advocates provide services to survivors in the community including safety planning, advocacy, emotional support, court accompaniment, and connection to resources to help them find safety, build skills, develop resilience, and heal from trauma. Advocates also conduct community outreach and education on domestic violence and healthy relationships.Organization Details
