Executive Summary
Having been in operation serving marginalized groups in New Jersey for the past 30 years, EDGE has a long-standing relationship within the community providing care in accordance with our guiding principles and values. Our CEO launched our first program in 1994, with the COO joining six years later. The consistency of leadership, coupled with longevity of values-based service, has contributed to our positive reputation within the community as a safe harbor for marginalized groups. With 100% of the leadership team having lived experience with HIV or identifying as LGBTQIA+, these staff members reflect and represent the experiences of the communities served. Through the provision of a comprehensive suite of direct care programs and advocacy work, EDGE contributes to the substantive improvement of the individuals and families we serve. On the micro level, we offer individual and group therapy, housing placement and support, case management, transportation, linkage to gender affirming care, and HIV testing and prevention methods. The center also has an art gallery showcasing and selling works on behalf of our members who identify as queer or HIV positive. On the macro level, we host town hall meetings where elected officials can hear firsthand from our members about their needs, we attend school board and other public meetings alongside community members to act as advocates, issue public statements to the press about significant happenings impacting our community, and support our members attendance on trips to Washington, DC to meet directly with representatives to provide testimonial about their most pressing needs.
